MARRIED 4 LIFE
“Have you not read that……A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh? Consequently, they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. (Matthew 19 v 4-6)
Does it strike you as add that we human beings are arrogant enough to think that we can define marriage? That we Can pass laws establishing marriage as other than a relationship between a man and a woman? Or that we can define marriage between a man and a woman as nothing more than a temporary, as long as you meet my needs?
No matter what legislative and judicial bodies do today, they can’t alter the truth that marriage is a God-ordained institution dating back to Adam and Eve in the garden. It was there He established as a relationship between one man and woman……..4 Life. Sadly, the divorce rate in the church has slowly caught up to that of the general public. The rough seasons in a marriage and those seasons can be very rough and can seem quiet hopeless—are an opportunity for us to grow individually in our faith as we rely on God to help us be true to our covenant vows. If you are in such a spot right now, remember that nothing is impossible for Him (Luke 1 v 37)
LOVE IN ACTION
Talk about the factors that have kept you together through the years and thank God for those.
Perhaps with a trusted third party present to mediate and pray with you, talk openly about the factors that are interfering with your relationship, that are robbing you of the oneness and joy that God intends marriage to bring to a husband and wife.
P R A Y E R
Father, thank you for creating our marriage to be a lifelong, one flesh union. Help us to remember that no one is to separate what you have joined together, not even us. May we truly rejoice knowing that even when seasons look hopeless, with your strength we can not only survive in our marriage but thrive.
